Reds recolonized 720Km of Anglesey, cross Menai Strait into Gwynedd & also recover in Clocaenog forest. The habitat hardly changed. Same number of domestic cats, lots of cars & people. So these not the barrier. It was grey squirrel removal that facilitated recovery. GREY SQUIRREL

The Red Squirrels in Clocaenog got a mention this evening on BBC Wales Today in a news item about Pine Martens in mid Wales helping to control the number of Grey Squirrels in the Towy Forest, the Red Squirrels are doing well as a result. Great news..
